“The Family Life Centre is here to support families in our city. We believe a child’s first years are crucial for their development.

The Church has a unique role in supporting families; the FLC is a practical expression of God’s heart for the city of Lancaster.

This is why we have established an early years parenting group (PEEP); a support group for the carers of children struggling with trauma; and are developing a listening service. We are also working with partner agencies in the city - including HMP Lancaster - and across the UK.

The Listening Service (Coming Soon)

Many of us find it helpful to talk, especially during stressful events. Telling your story uninterrupted and without judgement might be just what you need to re-discover your strength and find a way forward.
The listening service will provide an opportunity offload and be truly heard. 50 minute sessions with a trained volunteer will be available to all adults.

Trauma-informed Parenting

We are passionate about supporting those who care for children who have experienced trauma (whether foster, adoptive, or kinship carers), and we particularly support ‘therapeutic parenting’. We host informal support evenings once every few months for those interested.
These evenings are relaxed and informal to share experiences, and may include a short talk from a guest speaker. Stay updated on when our next event will take place through the Connect email or on social media. All welcome, no booking needed.
PEEP

Peep is a parenting group every Friday 10-11am in the St Thomas’ Centre building, open to all parents/carers with children aged 0-4yrs.
There are lots of opportunities to learn new ways to play with your child in everyday activities, chat to other parents and share experiences, plus a brew and a biscuit!
Dawn and Amy are the PEEP practitioners who lead the group. You will find a warm welcome here.
