Maternity Cover for the Children and Families’ Pastor (Job-share) 

As this is a maternity cover post, the successful applicant will be expected to deliver these roles and responsibilities in line with the current vision for the Children and Families’ ministry, but will not be expected to bring major innovations to the vision or strategy of the role within the timescale. 

Particular priorities within the timescale of the maternity cover will be: 
1. Responsibility for leadership and oversight of three or four of our 7 Junior Church groups, ensuring that strong teams are in place to lead these groups.  
2. Taking on leadership of one or two of our main regular mid-week outreach activities.
3. Take an active lead on jointly planning and delivering the Holiday Club at Easter, and other Children’s and Families events during the maternity cover period.
4. Planning and adapting the church’s existing ministries as and when the church’s building project commences and some of the church’s existing buildings are no longer available.  (Scheduled to begin January 2019).

All of these roles will be worked out in agreement with other Children and Families’ Pastor

One of our Children and Families’ Pastors, is due to start maternity leave on 2nd July 2018.  The start date for the maternity cover post is Wednesday 27th June or Thursday 28th June 2018 depending on the midweek ministries overseen by the successful applicant.  The maternity cover role is expected to continue until at least May 2019, though it may be extended, up to a maximum of 12 months.

As this is a job-share role, this is a part-time post intended to be for 20 hours a week (although hours may be negotiated between 18-22 hours a week, in agreement with the other Children and Families’ Pastor) with an annual salary of £20,661 pro-rata (Point 22 on the NJC payscale).
